The Best Start In Life for Your Children
Based in Barnes, London, St Michael's Montessori Nursery School has been established for more than 40 years and was registered under the present owner in 2000. It operates from St. Michael’s and All Angels Church Hall in Barnes, Richmond upon Thames and serves the local area. The nursery school is a member of the London borough of Richmond upon Thames Early Years Partnership and is inspected and approved by Ofsted. It is currently registered for a maximum of 50 children aged 2 - 5 years. We have a high staff-to-child ratio, and this allows children to have more individual attention.
Our objective is to offer a Montessori education that provides a range of experiences that will stimulate a child’s love of learning and discovery. We aim to ensure that each child has a positive and enjoyable introduction to school and strive to provide a holistic education in a safe, secure and child-centred environment providing for all areas of your child’s development.
Our aim is to nurture and help each child to develop as a unique individual. Every child who joins us not only receives a good education and excellent preparation for school, they also learn to be independent, well-rounded, interested and respectful children.
We provide an environment that is solely catered to the child, offering freedom within boundaries, specific targeted work based on each child’s level of learning and development and an extensive Montessori curriculum and outdoor learning program.
“The education of even a small child, therefore, does not aim at preparing him for school, but for life.” – Maria Montessori
Proprietor/ Head Teacher Debbie Goldberg and her Deputy Head Teacher Emma Whittle lead a team of Montessori-trained teachers who serve as role models and provide a link between the individual child and the prepared environment.
They guide, support and facilitate children’s own efforts and observe and record their progress. In addition to the Montessori curriculum, specialist tuition is given in music, art, yoga, drama and movement and foreign languages.
